Everybody loves cookies! The homemade version are so much nicer than shop bought ones, so it’s worth getting out your mixing bowl and baking tray. Here are some tasty recipes for you to try – I wonder how long they’ll last …
1. No Bake Rum Balls
What could be easier than cookies that don’t even need baking? Try these cookies if you don’t fancy waiting, as they’ll be ready in no time at all. There are suggestions on how to vary the recipe as well.
2. Thai Coconut and Cocoa Macaroons
And now for something completely different! I love Thai dishes, but I’d never have thought of using the typical flavours of coconut and lime to make cookies. I’ll have to give this a try and see how it turns out.
3. Banana Oatmeal Cookies
It’s funny, but I don’t like raw bananas, although I love them dried or cooked. So this recipe would be the perfect way for me to get some potassium into my diet. See, you can justify almost anything if you try hard enough.
4. Blackberry Hazelnut Cookies
If you’ve got some blackberry liqueur lying around that you want to use up, or you want an excuse to buy some, here’s your opportunity. The recipe only uses a small amount, so no worries that Granny will get drunk if she tries one.
5. Black and White Pinwheel Cookies
These cookies are a bit fiddly to make, but don’t they look gorgeous! If you have visitors, they’re bound to be impressed … if you can bear to share, that is. Note to US readers: a £1 coin, as mentioned in the recipe, is fairly thick.
6. Chocolate Chocolate Chip Cookies
I haven’t got typing hiccups, that’s chocolate chocolate, and not chocolate. If you’re going to make choc chip cookies, then they should be absolutely overloaded with chocolate. These have chocolate, choc chips and cocoa, which is enough to keep a chocoholic like me happy.
7. Apple Spice Drop Cookies
Apple and cinnamon makes a great combination, so with the apple season coming up why not have a go at making these cookies. You could also try varying the spices – ginger would be tasty as well.
8. Pfeffernusse
A German friend used to bring these traditional Christmas cookies back for us. You can sometimes find them in shops at other times of the year, but homemade is always nicer. They’re lovely and spicy, so enjoy!
Well, fellow cookie fans, are you tempted by any of these? Do you love baking? What’s your favourite cookie?
